Two military helicopters were spotted landing on Aintree Racecourse during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The aircrafts were photographed on the grass at the famous racing venue, which was due to host hundreds of thousands of guests at this week's Grand National Festival before mass gathering were cancelled.
Images of the helicopters also show a large group of soldiers as the armed forces continue to support public services in the fight against COVID-19.
It is not clear why the helicopters had landed in Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon but similar sightings close to Birmingham suggest the military are conducting training exercises in the area.
Manoeuvres by the RAF over Birmingham Airport in March were carried out as part of emergency planning for transporting patients to hospital.
The military are involved in contingency programme to help relieve the pressure on the health service in regards to coronavirus.
The Ministry of Defence was contacted by the ECHO for clarification but it is believed that these soldiers were also taking part in training exercises that could be used at a later date to support services in Merseyside.
