Helicopters swarm over Pittsburgh as Jason Momoa movie films action sequences

The sights and sounds of helicopters swarming over parts of Pittsburgh at night might have placed some residents on edge.

But as KDKA-TV reports, there's no need for alarm. It's just the latest example of the Steel City getting ready for its Hollywood closeup. This time in an upcoming Netflix movie starring former 'Game of Thrones' hunk Jason Momoa.

KDKA says the production, which geared back up for the new year, has been filming action sequences in and around some iconic Pittsburgh locations.

In addition to those ominous evening helicopters swarming over PNC Park and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center this week, film crews were spotted in several other locations around the city's Golden Triangle since the weekend.

A camera rig, attached to the back of a car, was set up along Stanwix Street and Liberty Avenue, KDKA reports. And there were also lighting crews and service trucks in Gateway Center.

Unfortunately, KDKA reports there have been no actual Jason Momoa sightings to date.

The movie, entitled "Sweet Girl," began filming in and around Pittsburgh in late 2019. Production has now resumed after a holiday break.

The film features Momoa as a grieving father protecting his daughter, while trying to get justice in his wife's death.

Sounds like some fictional bad guys in the 'Burgh are gonna pay!
