Why military helicopters were spotted flying over Merseyside

Military helicopters were seen flying around the skies  last weekend sparking speculation.

Residents across the county spotted three military helicopters above Chester and Ellesmere Port at around 3pm on Sunday, January 19.

Some readers said they were also spotted flying over Merseyside and were based at Altcar training camp.

The trio of aircraft from the Armed Forces sparked speculation as social media users took to Twitter to seek answers for their presence.

Chris Jones was among those who asked why there were three military helicopters flying over Chester, reports Cheshire Live.

Others offered their own explanations as to why they were in the area.

Stu Jones posted: "There were Royal Navy Merlins staying this week for an exercise so you will possibly see more of them during the week."
